More LCDs with embedded touch screens or image sensors

Original Post from Februart 4th 2007.

This Nikkei article describes more developments in LCD displays that have image sensors embedded into the design of each pixel, thus providing some new multi-touch capabilities built in to the display and avoiding additional resistive and capacitive layers on top of the display.

Notably this development first reported by Sharp on the small 3.5" display [b) in the image above] is now starting to appear in larger display sizes and so could make reading related applications and/or laptops/tablets.

It states: "The 12.1-inch design is scheduled to be commercialized in a tablet personal computer within a year or two." anyone want to start a new touch MacTablet rumor for end of 2008 or start of 2009?
