Esquire magazine to publish e-paper cover

Original Post from August 4th 2008.

TechNewsWorld reports here that Esquire magazine will celebrate their 75th birthday by shipping 100,000 units of their September edition with part of the cover being an e-Ink area with flashing/scrolling text.

It remains to be seen whether it will be a real flexible Active-Matrix bitmapped display or a a piece of flexible e-Ink film with some direct-drive segments. Direct drive makes flashing text easy, scrolling is more difficult unless it's a series of 7-segment characters...

Either way it should be eye-catching and provide some good PR for e-Ink.
